Throwing numbers at the problem
It takes mighty long to truly claim you are good at something.
regardless of what it is you’re talking about.
Take for instance writing compelling blog posts on medium. Most of the people who write here have spent a long time honing their craft. Especially those who have 80% of a regular audience out here in medium.
For many it may be daunting to even attempt at giving it a shot to post something and I can empathize. I am where you are if that is your case.
For a long time I’ve been working on improving my writing skills by making a writing habit.
It’s been on and off. Sometimes I go for it, sometimes I do not.
However in late 2020 I achieved a 21 day uninterrupted streak of writing 2250 words everyday. An achievement I am quite proud of.
I used to write whatever I could come up with in my mind and I really did not care about the quality of what I wrote as long as kept that momentum.
So here’s what I am doing on medium as well.
I understand that this could be considered me spamming the medium website with low quality posts.
I suppose I would need to practice elsewhere first.
Maybe that is the case.
But then again what I can get out of medium is that I could build an audience here.
That’s the part about writing I really admire to build an audience and start a dialogue with them.
It still remains to be seen what would come out of a habit like this but that’s too premature to imagine I suppose.
All in all I tried this on instagram for art and I am pleased to say that I’ve managed give or take 200+ drawings without missing a day.
in other words that’s a solid unbroken streak that I am proud of and that is something i wish to replicate in writing as well.
To whomever who’s reading this, consider this journey to be of self discovery of an individual.
You never know what you are going to find because neither do I.
As we go along, as I keep posting my stuff, I shall give it my all to make sure that i improve the experience for my audience as I keep the habit.
The point is that I learn to write well and write properly with something that makes sense.
And who knows, some AI is probably reading this and finding out patterns that are unknown to me and would make sense at a later date.
