What is your secret Identity?

There are three factors when it comes to behavior change.
The Doing, the action that you do.
The having, the thing you get after you do the action.
But most importantly It’s the being, the identity you take over for that particular domain.

Often times we analyse the past as in the having of whatever we have done so far and conclude on the identity that we assume represents us.
Mostly it’s the evidence for whatever you have chosen, so in a way it’s biased depending how you are feeling at the moment.

If you are in a good mood and you screw something up then you say it happens, you don’t exactly blame yourself but you do go easy on yourself and it’s not such a big deal.
However if you are in a bad mood and something goes wrong, you would blame yourself more often than not and the inside voice in your head begins to call you names such as loser or dumbass…
Either case is likely.

So let’s take a new approach to this.
What if we first declare who we are being.
For instance when I am writing this I declare to myself that I am a creative and a consistent writer.
What that means is that I come up with new and fresh ideas and that I am always posting write ups that that are consistent and corherent.
That they follow basic logic and are well constructed and tight arguements.
This being is a declaration, the headlights on your car that lead the way.

They need not be far reaching at the moment but enough for you to do the action, the doing part where you drive forward.

Am I fulfilling on this being identity? Am I a creative and consistent writer.
Now here’s the thing, at the moment I am not, but I sure do have the potential to reach that goal.
And I intend to do so, reach that goal that is.
And it’s probably an infinite game.
There have been so many writers who are creative and consistent and they are that till they die.

In my case that’s a goal, or an ideal that I aim towards to be creative and consistent and I don’t really mind if I don’t reach that goal everyday because it’s my humanity that’s coming through when I attempt to reach it.

That’s the important bit that you need to have an Identity that will change your perspective of how you see this behavior!
